House Help

The house is coming along. My dad came up for a few days, and was a huge help. He did all of the yard outside. Which looks wonderful now. No longer like the shrubs are trying to eat our house. He didn't even know that there was a sidewalk under there. Daniel and I did, but we hadn't seen in in awhile. Gidget was happy to see it again too. There are two nice new doors on the bedrooms that Daniel and dad put up. All that is left to do on the house is some quarter round in the kitchen, living room, and hall and some touch up paint here and there.

We head home for Thanksgiving soon, and are really looking forward to all the food and family time.

Tradition

Just because you've always done it that way doesn't mean it's not incredibly stupid.

The Lone Melon

Today we pulled our only watermelon to survive off the vine today. The others were either eaten by bugs or rotted on the damp ground. This one definitely could have ripened more, but it did taste like a watermelon and weighed about 7 lbs. We were both so proud that it was edible and we enjoyed the fruits of our labor this afternoon.

Pumpkins lit up

2009 Annual Picture on the Porch with Pumpkins

Happy Halloween! Today Daniel and I carved pumpkins out of stencils I made for us. I truly enjoy this project we do every year. Daniel did the USS Enterprise and me in customary Halloween form did a cat.

Atlanta for a quick weekend

We just got back from Atlanta last night from a beautiful wedding in Cleveland, GA. It was a wonderful trip and a nice break from the painting and packing. Daniel was very dashing in his fall colored tux. The ceremony was sweet and the reception was fun. I'm not a fan of Atlanta, at all, the traffic is what causes me to hate the place. However, going from a super small town to one where there is everything, even if its just for a weekend, was nice.

We got back late from the wedding and were hungry again. Walking into our room we found a menu under the door for Chinese, and they deliver. Never having Chinese delivered before we were both really excited by the idea.

Even though we were only gone for 3 nights it felt like a week, a nice week long vacation. The cats seemed to share the sentiment because they were so happy we were home, and we were so happy to have our bed back.

Getting Along

For this week we are keeping Mitzi, our Quinn family dog. My parents are off enjoying a trip and we get to keep this sweet, stubborn, spoiled dog. Mizti doesn't get along with other animals and our cats are not known for their welcoming attitude. I was surprised this evening while watching tv when Mitzi rolled over and slept against Tango. Everyone is getting along great even Mitzi and our dog Suki play and wag tails together. Which is good news for our big move and changes to come, lets hope the friendliness stays. This photo was to sweet not to share. Gidget is in my lap, but she is trying to tolerate the other animals.

Weddings and photos

This year is a year of weddings for Daniel and I. This summer one of my good photo friends, Sarah, got married to a wonderful guy and Daniel's sister got married as well. This coming weekend Daniel's friend, his best man in our wedding, is getting married in GA. Later in Feb our friends Jeremy and Britney are going to tie the knot. One favorite parts of going to the weddings is getting to use my Mamiya C330, I love using film.

I just got back 7 rolls of film I had taken from our vacation to Charleston and from the two earlier weddings. I love this camera but it has a little trouble...... counts to 24 when really there is only 12 frames ( i realized later, although I was suspicious of its 24 frames at the time). So half the pictures I took don't actually exist, but I am still really happy with the images from Sarah and Katherine's weddings, even if there are only about 12. The cake is from Sarah and Tyler's wedding, and the other is Daniel's Grandpa Roy from his sister's wedding.
